What is CPM? (Cost Per Mille (per 1,000 impressions))

CPM is the cost of showing your ad 1,000 times, regardless of clicks. It is the standard pricing model for awareness and display/social campaigns.

Formula
CPM = Ad Spend ÷ Impressions × 1,000

Example

If $80 buys 20,000 impressions, your CPM is $80 ÷ 20,000 × 1,000 = $4.00.

Why CPM matters

CPM is useful for reach and branding goals where impressions matter more than clicks. To compare a CPM campaign to a CPC one, convert using your CTR.

What's a good CPM?

CPMs are typically much lower than CPCs and vary by platform and targeting.
